Vegetable Garden

This is our greenhouse, isn't it cute!
My grandpa grew up as a farmer in Arkansas. He was in his 90's
and still growing vegetables out on his farm here in Oregon every year. He was giving us advise last year on what we needed to do or not do to grow some vegetables. He died a few months ago. Every time I go outside and look at the vegetables I think of my grandpa. We will miss him and his gardening advice. For a farmer he sure raised two people with brown thumbs. We kill everything!!!
We have been trying to grow our own vegetables for a few years now. The last two years have been a complete bust for us. The first year we waited to long in the planting season to plant. None of the plants produced anything. Last year the weather didn't cooperate and ended up killing all of our plants. It either snowed on them or fried them from the heat.

Each year we have been buying more pots. This year we have a small collection of them to use. We are trying to look at this project as an investment.

This year we are at it again. This time we saved up and bought a free standing green house.

Its been in the 70's here and this little green house really holds the heat and humidity in. To walk in there is an instant steam bath. We open the windows on it every day. I hope the vegetables are liking it. I hope they grow.

A few of our vegetable plants
This year we planted various kinds of tomatoes and lettuces. We have lemon cucumbers, peas and sugar snap beans planted. Then of course we have the kitchen herbs like dill, rosemary, chives and thyme. There is even some chili peppers in there somewhere. So far they are looking pretty good. I think the tomatoes plants are growing a foot a day!!!

We are keeping our fingers crossed that we might get some produce this year.
