Making Changes to Mischyf Paws

Mischypaws is in dyer need of an update. I haven't given my shop a really good update since it opened.

I have been trying to figure out what changes need to be made to liven up my pet shop Mischyfpaws. I have been thinking about this for months now. After analyzing data and researching other stores to see what they offer and selling, I now have a good idea of what I want to do. For the last three weeks I've been making changes to Mischyfpaws. The shop needs color, more color. Right now the shop is mostly custom but I would like to have more inventory. I have been trying to figure out ways to have an inventory base instead of all custom made items. The shop will retain custom made items but they will be special orders.

Etsy has added a new feature of drop down selection menu's. I am updating each and everyone of the listings to add this new feature.

Color Options
I think it is time to update Mischyfpaws from a monochromatic color theme to a more playful colorful one. I am changing the fabrics for the walking bag, leash bags and cup cozy's to open a wide range of color into the shop.

Cup Cozy's
Cup cozys are already being made of felt. I will expand that into making them out of multiple colors of felt. The pattern will also be updated to allow for a better range of cup sizes and water bottles.

Walking Bags
I've made changes to the walking bag by changing the fabric to poplin or linen. The monogramming that read "Time for a Walk" will no longer prominently display in the pictures. I was afraid that customers thought that the bag came that way and they couldn't change it. It might be discouraging customers from buying them. I am now displaying the walking bag with the embroidered dog only. The pictures that will be displayed will now show previous pictures made for customers with monograms of their dogs names or previously made "Time for a Walk" bags. Others bags that I do not have customer photo's for will display the embroidered dog only.

Leash bags
The leash bags will now be made from either poplin or linen. This will add more colors to the shop. Other then that the leash bags will not change much.

Paw towels
I have found a new towel vendor. The new vendor offers colors however they will be seasonal. So I may not be able to get all colors all the time. No other changes will be made to the paw towels.

International shipping.
I previously removed international shipping due to packages being sent to Brazil three times for one customer and that customer never received one. This customer had left me my only negative feedback. I was so upset by that I removed international shipping. I recently decided to try international shipping again. One bad experience should not spoil it for the rest.

Gift Wrapping and Gift Addresses
I am adding gift wrapping as a selection for a few dollars. I also decided to add sending to gift address for customers that would like to send items to family or friends in another state.

New Products
There will be new products added to the shop in time for Christmas holiday season. I have some ideas that I am testing out now and will start to introduce them soon.

So far these are the changes that are in the process of being made.

Purses in Process for Mischyf Couture

Purple Milk Protein

I found a new love two years ago. My new love is spinning yarn. I came across a store that sold a beginning spinners kit that consisted of a bottom whorl spindle and this really ugly wool. I think the wool was ends of other projects. Everyone I spoke to at the time said that spinning wool is the easiest to learn on because it has a short draft.

Drafting is when you pull the fibers apart to the width you would like it before the fibers break completely apart. Wool has a 3-4 inch draft. Personally, I found it rather difficult. I prefer the longer 6-7 inch draft that silk provides.

Purple Mulberry Silk Brick
I came across a store  Zebisisdesigns that sells hand dyed mulberry silk slivers and bricks. Slivers are usually around 2-3ozs with a slight carding to it to make it easier to spin. There is less of a prep time to a sliver than a brick. A brick is about 4.4ozs and it is usually hand wide with no carding to it all.

Zebisisdesigns has wonderful selection of hand made spindles and fibers for sale. I love her stone spindles, they are so beautiful. I personally have 10 of her top whorl spindles. Her fibers are just simply amazing. She makes these wonderful colorways with wool, silk, bamboo, milk proteins and many many other fibers.  Now that I've been spinning for a while the wools and alpaca are becoming a favored item of mine too.

Drafted Mulberry Silk and Spindle
I've found that I enjoy the drafting part of spinning more relaxing to me then the actual spinning itself. I will sit late at night and just draft out strips of silk to be spun the next day. I'm the type of person that likes the soft luxurious feel on my hands, running through my fingers relaxing and mulberry silk has that in aces.

Since I have started spinning yarn I have accumulate 13 top whorl spindles, 4 bottom whorl spindles, 1 Mother Marion and 2 rather large boxes of fiber. I can't spin fast enough to out way my buying.  Isn't that always the way with a hobby?

Sock Loom with Pink Mulberry Silk

I started making scarves for myself and family until I recently bought a sock loom. Well, Needless to say, I am NOT making socks, which is why I bought it. LOL!  I am working on opening my other shop Mischyf Couture (shop isn't open yet!) which will have designer purse and clothes, by me.

I'm wanting to do a limited edition, one of a kind line of evening clutches and wristlet. The evening purses will be hand dyed, hand spun, hand loomed and hand made for my shop. They will have wonderful linings and handles. I will be decorating the purses with crystals and other luxurious or glamorous items. All of the pictures provided are some of the purses currently being worked on.

When these purses are ready to be added to the store I will blog about them. =) Until then please visit my other stores Forget Me Knot Treasure and MischyfPaws .

New Blog

I thought I would try something new. I thought I would try one blog to cover all of my stores. That way I can write about anything and not have to worry about coming up with something to cover all topics in different blogs. This may be easier for me to keep up with. We will see.

I have 6 stores. Two on etsy and four on artfire. DawnMoniqueDesigns and MischyfCouture are not up and running yet. They will be open soon. I hope!
