DIY Flip Flopping My Flip Flops

Flips flops are a dollar store find this year. I saw a woman restring her flip flops and thought "What a GREAT idea!" DIY my own pair! The plastic piece in between my toes always causes me pain and scratches my skin raw when I walk. Usually they become uncomfortable after a few hours of wear.
I was in the dollar store the other day and bought almost a pair of every color they have. I think I left only the orange color on the wall.
This set I used 6 strands of shiny satin cording. I measured it up against the plastic piece on the shoe and added 5"- 6" for braiding and knotting. I braided the front part that fits through your toes with three sets of two strands each. Total 6 strands.

After I got the braiding as long as I wanted in between the toes, I separated my 6 strands out into two sets of three strands each side. Then braided out the sides with 3 strands each. Then I threaded the braided strands through the side holes to the bottom of the sandals. I fitted the scandals to my feet. I knotted the strands and pushed them up into the holes.
They are knotted at the bottom of the sandals.
The knots fit into the holes where the plastic pieces use to be so you don't feel the knots when you walk.

These are much more comfy on my feet now. They don't scratch or rub my skin off. I can wear them all day if I want and don't even notice them.
I wish I had taken pictures while I was doing it but I wasn't really sure it would work. Well, I have a few more sandals to work on and I will definitely take pictures of those in the process. ;-)

Pool Tote

I was out looking for a tote to take to the pool for my rehabilitation. I found this extra large tote at Target. It is so roomy. I'm so happy I found it. I can fit two large beach towels, my clothes, swim suit, shoes, and I haven't even filled it half way up. It still has room for more. Yay!!
I love the lace overlay and the large leather over the shoulder strap. It has two hand straps that fit on the shoulder as well. Although, I haven't decided which way is more comfortable to carry it yet.

Tropical Swim Suit

This is a fun tropical looking swim suit. It has multiple tiers of ruffles and a key hole in the front. It is a halter top that ties up around the neck from center front. I love how the fuchsia, green and teal colors of the flowers and plants stand out against the white background.

I found this fuchsia lace bathing skirt to wear with it. It has the bikini bottoms with a lace overlay.

I bought the black bathing skirt to wear with my other lace swim suit but I can wear it with this top too. I don't know if I like the fuchsia or the black skirt with this top better.

Here is the lace bathing skirt that I bought for my black lace swim suit top. It also has the bikini bottoms under the lace overlay.

New Bathing Suit

I started rehab on my arm and back this week. I was referred to pool therapy. The pool is low impact on the body. The density of the water makes your movement slow and is in itself weight resistant. I can't wait to start. Getting into a nice warm pool without children running around sounds so wonderful.
Well if I am getting into a pool I need something to wear. The last bathing suit I bought I was a 19 year old size 6. That was so long ago. Now I am a plus size woman. How did that happen?
As a recovering cancer survivor I need to find something to accommodate my breast expander and hide my mastectomy scars. I have breast expander in until I can have surgery to put in my implants later in the year. I can't have a top that uses my boobs to hold up the bathing suit. It hurts to much in that area. I needed something that ties and has some support.

After going through quite a few suits and being drawn to those really cute ones, only to find out that they don't come in my size. I finally found this bathing suit top that I liked. It is black lace halter top. I bought black so I can buy bottoms in different colors. This swim suit top fits me really well. It hides my tummy and it provides me with the breast support I need. Plus, I love how it makes me feel like a woman again. That is something that is hard to get back after cancer. It is the perfect top for me under $20.00
