Flips flops are a dollar store find this year. I saw a woman restring her flip flops and thought "What a GREAT idea!" DIY my own pair! The plastic piece in between my toes always causes me pain and scratches my skin raw when I walk. Usually they become uncomfortable after a few hours of wear.
I was in the dollar store the other day and bought almost a pair of every color they have. I think I left only the orange color on the wall.

This set I used 6 strands of shiny satin cording. I measured it up against the plastic piece on the shoe and added 5"- 6" for braiding and knotting. I braided the front part that fits through your toes with three sets of two strands each. Total 6 strands.
After I got the braiding as long as I wanted in between the toes, I separated my 6 strands out into two sets of three strands each side. Then braided out the sides with 3 strands each. Then I threaded the braided strands through the side holes to the bottom of the sandals. I fitted the scandals to my feet. I knotted the strands and pushed them up into the holes.
They are knotted at the bottom of the sandals.
The knots fit into the holes where the plastic pieces use to be so you don't feel the knots when you walk.

These are much more comfy on my feet now. They don't scratch or rub my skin off. I can wear them all day if I want and don't even notice them.
I wish I had taken pictures while I was doing it but I wasn't really sure it would work. Well, I have a few more sandals to work on and I will definitely take pictures of those in the process. ;-)
Meow! My lovely's and be playful!
