Mint Green Crochet Halter

This is a closet find. I bought this mint green halter top a number a years ago. I have no idea where I got it. I just found it again in my closet. I have never worn this top.
I have never worn a top without a bra. Now that I had a mastectomy I am looking at breast in a whole new way. My breast are no longer being taken over by gravity like other women my age. I feel I can go bra less.

The front has an hand embroidered of a large flower on the right and a smaller on the left in darker teals and bronze colors.

I like the way the back of the halter is long and covers the lower back. So many of these crocheted halters are backless or just all string.
This is an up close of the pattern for any of you crochet gays out there that want to try and make one.

I'm waiting for a nice hot day without rain to wear it. Here in Oregon that will probably be July.

Music Spa Towel Wrap

Musical notes are spread out all over the towel wrap. This one is embroidered with white notes on a black terry cloth background. This design was inspired by a friend of mine that loves music and plays guitar. Spa wrap has a Velcro hook loop closure in the front. Elastic in the back provides comfort and allows to expand for a proper fit without it falling down. Towel wraps are wonderful to use at the beach, pool side, sitting and putting on make up or just drying off getting out of the tub.

Measurements
Small/Medium = 30-37" Bust and up to 44" Hip.
 Medium/Large =  33-52" Bust and up to 68" Hip
Plus Size =  52-88" Bust and up to 100" Hip
Top to Bottom is 29"

I designed this rose from a rose out of the garden. It was a beautiful rose in full bloom. I digitized this rose design. The rose is copyrighted by Mischyf Couture.

Peacock Spa Towel Wrap

Just finished with a customer request for a fan tail peacock on a spa towel wrap. The spa towel wrap can be used as a cover up for the beach, pool, after showering or just plain sitting while applying make-up.

The fan tail peacock is embroidered on the the lower right side front of the towel.
There is a lot of room in this wrap. It has a full back so it allows easy and comfort.

The peacock feathers are embroidered in blues and greens with a soft beige feather shaft. The peacocks body is embroidered in blues, purples and greens with golden yellow legs.

The front of the towel wrap has a Velcro  hook and loop closure at the top.

I used a white terry cloth for the toweling but you can select the color you want from the color chart.

There is an elastic in the back to allow for comfort while wearing. The elastic has a lot of give to it without slipping down.

 Measurements
Small/Medium = 30-37" Bust and up to 44" Hip.

New Towel Wrap IV - Final

I thought after a whole month and a half
I would show you the final version of the first towel wrap.

This towel wrap was finished the day before we took it out to Portland Saturday Market. PSM approved towels wraps as a new product for us out there. It was approved in the morning and it was sold by afternoon along with two other towel wraps we took out there that day.

Never fear, I've already made another one similar to this one.

New Towel Wrap Part III

As you can see we have added an Eiffel Tower to the bottom of the towel wrap. The Eiffel Tower was embroidered in black.

After we got the Eiffel Tower embroidered onto the towel wrap we felt there was something missing. We need to add something that links the Fleur de Lis design at the top of the towel to the Eiffel Tower at the bottom. We are not sure what exactly but we will figure something out, I'm sure. ;)

In our last posting we showed you the pink and black towel wrap we started making for our Portland Saturday Market product line
Now we are starting the embroidery. So far we have the Fleur De Lis at an angle in the upper corner. We are keeping to the black theme with the embroidery.

Up next is finishing the embroidery

Making My Company Banner

Alphabet Soup!
I started working the Portland Saturday Market recently. My mother and I have been trying to make due or do things with the least amount of expense. We are working on getting our displays and tent displays together. We decided to make our own banner by embroidering each letter and sewing it to canvas. We thought this would be the cheapest way for us to get a company name banner. We have the thread and we have the canvas all we need to do is the work.

Each Letter Stitched Out.
I sat down one night and started playing with Fonts and seeing which ones I would want to use for my banner. I started making my letters one by one. Each letter would have to be stitched out on the embroidery machine one at a time. Each letter took anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to embroidery. It took me 4 days to complete the embroidery . Because I stitched them out with washable stabilizer I needed to soak the letters for 24 hours, changing the water every few hours during the day and then continued soaking the remainder of the night. After soaking I cut the fabric from around each letter.
Plain Black Background Fabric

Once I completed the letters I moved on to getting the background fabric finished. I hemmed the sides and made drawstring facings in the top and bottom to run rope through the banner so I could hang it up in the tent.
After I finished the background piece of the banner I laid out the letters for spacing and placing. Once that is complete I attached the letters to the background fabric. We used glue to attached the letters. Gluing the letters on was easier then sewing them on.
Letters are glued on and drying

This is the completed banner displaying the company name.

From Sketch to Embroidery - Bicycle

Portland Oregon is listed as one of the top 10 states with the highest amount of bicyclist in a city. That is quite an honor since there are so many thousands of cities. I already knew there were a lot of cyclist in the Portland but I never realized we were in the top 10 cities. WoW!!!

Inspired by the news and looking for embroideries that would appeal to both genders I thought I would design my own bike embroidery. I found neon pink and neon green thread and tested it out with those colors. I just love the neon pink bicycle.

This is the first bike we embroidered on a Kindle Fire case in neon green. This case seems to get a lot of attention out at the artist market.

From Sketch to Embroidery - Paw Print

I have always loved the paw print it is one of my favorite things. I love my puppies paws. They are so big when they are puppies and they grow into them. The paw print shows where they have walked in the yard leaving a track on prints in the water, mud or snow.

My paw print sketch is a very crude pencil sketch. I tried to simplify my puppies paw print to the simplest form. Embroideries are better that way for me right now.

Here is the example of the embroidery paw print after I digitized it as an machine embroidery design. I've been using this embroidery on paw towels and totes for a while now.

From Sketch to Embroidery - Orca

This is the Orca I sketched earlier this month. I drew the Orca from a picture of a live whale in the ocean. Of course, I didn't take the picture but it took a while to find one online that showed the whale from a full side view. The photo I used was taken by a professional driver taking pictures of Orcas in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. After I drew the whale in a simple form, I transferred it to an embroidery design. The test embroidery is shown below.

Growing up in California was in no way lacking on things to do. I remember seeing my first killer whale when I was 6 years old. My school took us to Sea World as a field Trip. The whole class got to see Shamu jump in the air and get us all wet as the huge animal splashed back into the giant pool. I bought a Shamu stuffed animal with my spending money my parents gave me for the day.

From Sketch to Embroidery - Sheep

This is a very quick and simple sketch of a sheep from memory. As you can see I had a few problems with the drawing.

As you can see I made a few changes to the design. I changed the shape of the head and removed two of the four legs. I used a scallop design I created two years ago and shrunk it down to use it as the fluffy look in the outline. After spending quite a few ours on the design I finally got something that looked like a sheep.
Bah Bah Black Sheep!!!

Messenger Bags are Here

We are proud to introduce a new product. This is our embroidered messenger bags. These bags are wonderful. This one has our popular rose design with red embroidered scroll work in each corner.

I drew this rose from a rose in the garden. Then I transferred it to machine embroidery.

Rose is embroidered on the flap in three pretty shades of red giving it a beautiful depth. The leaves are embroidered in two shades of green. There are four scroll work designs embroidered in red on each corner.

Our messenger bags have four pockets and one divider inside.

Fully lined and padded.

Measures 17 1/2" wide by 12" tall by  4" deep.

The strap on this one is 39" from side seam to side seam.

Flap has a Velcro (hook and loop) closure.

From Sketch to Embroidery - Iris

I designed the iris from a picture of an iris I drew when I was in high school. The drawing has been on my wall in every apartment I have ever lived in. I made the 3D version of my embroidery from the drawing. I am experimenting with ribbon in this photo for the leaves and stem. I really like how the above photo turned out.

Cherry Blossoms Pillow

I used my cherry blossom design that I created a few years ago for this pillow. This is one of my first embroidery designs that I created. I was inspired by the cherry blossom trees in the neighborhood. Every year when Spring rolls around the cherry blossom trees bloom. By the end of May the air fills with pink and white petals as they float to the ground. It looks like it is snowing in shades of pink.

This pillow uses two rows of pink ribbon running vertically dividing the pillow into sections. The cherry blossom design is embroidered onto the tan cotton pillow. I added single cherry blossoms to the top of the branches and floating them down the front to make it look as if they were falling off the tree. This technique creates a 3D effect with the cherry blossoms.

From Sketch to Embroidery. White Swan

White Swan is an embroidery that I recently designed. It was inspired by two things. One is Swarovski crystal company logo and the other a set of wedding champagne glasses with a swan etched into the glass.

This is my quick sketch of a swan I found in a pond by the restaurant we were eating at.

This is the completed White Swan design. I love how the wings came out against the fill flat stitch of the neck and tail.

White Swan is copyrighted material.
